Petrol Price Hike…

Nowadays the petrol price hike is spoken as a big issue. Many are against the price hike. But I feel that the price of the petrol must be still increased in our country… The profit which the government gets because of the petrol price hike must be used in some useful ways.

In our country majority of our import bill is because of Oil. If we reduce our oil imports by a small percentages then that small percentage of the money which the government saves can be used for many things, and in order to reduce the imports the usage must be less... and to reduce the usage the price of the oil must be more...

The first thing which will come to our mind when oil price raise is fuel for our vehicle... but if we are those who use public mode of transport we wont talk abt the fuel price hike. For example say u travel by MTC bus, the increase in the petrol price will be shared be all those who use that MTC bus right? The government must gradually improve the public transport facility…If the public transport facility is good then with the increase in petrol price all people will gradually shift to public transport... because of this apart from reducing the import bill the government will also get revenue from the transport service… doesn’t that sound good?

But on the other side the price hike has its own disadvantages too…The transportation charges of vegetables food items and other things will also go up. This will result in raise in price of vegetables and other essential items… And with the raise of petrol price the automobile industry will also be affected and this may slow down our economy... and this will affect many sectors directly or indirectly with these things we can argue that the petrol price hike is bad...

what ever it might be Oil is a non renewable source of energy. More over burning the oil is going to pollute our environment and will make the world a bad place to live for us and also for our future generations... so I feel good that the price hike reduces the consumption of oil atleast by a small percentage :)

Mm cool athane..Rendu perum train-la vandhutu petrol hike-ku support-a.Vasanth as u said if petrol price goes up,all the mandatory items price will also go up.For some people then it will become dream to have food with vegetables.
And moreover i hate this..Whenever price goes up,this auto vala's increasing the autofare. If there is an increase of Rs.5 they increase charge from Rs.5-10.
If government gets more money by this it will not be used for many things..It will be used only for politicians family..So be against.

Hey Vasanth,

50 -50 . Since i come by train.. :)
and also by auto :( As Santhi said autowalas make it a habit to increase whenver petrol price hikes..Which makes it mpossible to afford auto on a regular basis. Also travelling by MTC buses is impossible, esp in the peak hours ( Even otherwise :().

Government can earn revenue on many other ways.. Like increasing on alcohols and luxury goods .. Esssential commodities increase aachna loots suffer..
Petrol hike will only profit the auto walas and politiicans.

Good post..

The problem is simply because of lack of coordination among the states and the various energy sources.

New Delhi for example has a richer support for Natural Gas fuel but other states make a big hue and cry in the implemenation of the same.

Furthermore, this unprecedented petrol hike has a political backing up too. The hike was scheduled in May but due to impending elections in May in various states, it was forcibly 'held down'.

There are unconfirmed media reports that Tamil Nadu congress alliance parties were the key in this illicit 'hold down' of the hike.

The best way to 'contain' petrol price is that all politicians must be made to pay on a kilometer basis a rent for thier cars. This way, enormous black money with them would get transferred to Central Exchequer.

hi vasanth i agree with waat u say....but still , the price of petrol in our neighbouring country like pak..its only around 20 to 30 rs per litre.....so wat do u say about this..in india the tax is about 15 to 20 rs for 1lr of petrol, istnt this affectin the common people...and another thing is the automobile industry is having their sales inclined upwards....every year....

this is only my view......so it depends on each individual of our country....
